My guess is that the launch of the 2023 M2 in April next year will enable the M4 to become a bit more premium and more heavily into the grand tourer part of the model. Perhaps BMW will eliminate the basic rear-drive manual M4 as it will be the most similar to the M2. It’s just my wild speculation. Do not quote me unless you conclude that I am correct. If any of those plans occur, it’ll allow the M2 more room to grow into the purest driver’s car within BMW’s M-space. Everything about the M2 looks pretty cool initially.
